Esset Soul of the Gurage

When we think of plants what comes to our minds, among other things, is their role as
source of food and safe guards of the environment. It is true. Meanwhile, in some
societies they play a different role in the lives of the fellow members. Among the Sebatbet
Gurage, people living in the western part of Ethiopia, one plant: esset plays a great
role in their daily lives as source of food, as means of social organization and the
description of their identity.
